The Little Girl and The Robin

Once upon a time in a kingdom far far away, lived a little girl with beautiful long hair. The little girl loved her long hair and spent time every day during the winter combing her hair and caring for it.

At the end of the winter, the little girl was happy to finally go outside and play. While she was playing, a beautiful red-breasted Robin flew onto the gate in the back yard.

The Robin sang a song that the little girl really loved. The song was about the the sun going down and the moon coming up. It was a beautiful song and made the little girl smile.

It had been a long winter and the Robin was gathering things to make a nest for her eggs. The Robin looked carefully at the little girl's hair. Then the Robin said to the little girl, "Little girl, may I have a few inches of your beautiful hair to finish the nest for my new eggs?"

The little girl thought how much she loved her hair but the Robin really needed the hair and had shared her beautiful song with the little girl, so she took out her scissors and cut off a bit of her hair for the Robin. The little girl felt sad but then the Robin was very happy and flew away to finish her nest with the little girl's beautiful hair. There she laid four tiny blue eggs.

Many weeks later, the little girl was out for a walk. She had walked a long way and she was very hungry. She didn't know where to get any food and then she saw a familiar bird. It was the Robin. The Robin said "How are you today little girl?"

"I am very hungry and don't know where to find anything to eat," replied the little girl.

At that, the Robin flew away and in just a few minutes returned with a large bunch of delicious grapes which she gave to the little girl. The Robin said "You were so nice to me to share your hair with me that I am happy to help you anytime I can."

The little girl enjoyed the delicious grapes and always remembered that when you share you always get something in return.
